As announced a few days ago, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will do a special flyover around Las Vegas and Hoover Dam this evening as part of southern Nevada’s ongoing America250 celebration. The aerial show will feature the Thunderbirds’ six-aircraft delta formation, marking the first time since 2020 that the iconic delta, six red, white, and blue F-16 Fighting Falcons in tight formation, has flown over Las Vegas. The aircraft will take off from Nellis Air Force Base at 7:15, then do a five-minute roundtrip pass over the Strip starting at 7:20. Heading north, the group will pass Lone Mountain, then turn west to Las Vegas Ballpark and Red Rock Canyon, then climb over Mt. Charleston and reach Hoover Dam at 7:47. From there it’s back to Nellis, landing at 8 p.m. If you’re anywhere in the vicinity, you can’t miss the event; the roar of the jets reach 115 decibels and 120 is the typical threshold for pain.
