VisualCapitalist analyzed data from various government and air-traveler surveys to rank the most popular cities for tourists arriving from abroad. The numbers are from 2024, so they’re not reflective of recent trends, but they do show that travel patterns were highly concentrated and, no doubt, still are. Slightly more than 35 million overseas visitors arrived that year and Las Vegas placed fifth on the list with 2.6 million of them. This is all the more impressive when you consider that most international visitors have to stop in a gateway city, such as New York (#1 with 9.5 million), Miami (5.2 million), and L.A. (4.4 million), before connecting to Sin City. Orlando was fourth with 3.9 million.
