Another outstanding piece of reporting by SFGate, the major American news and entertainment website covering California (and Nevada), delves into the history of Harvey’s just over the Nevada border of South Lake Tahoe, which was recently transformed into Caesars Republic. The title sums it up: “The Biggest Name in Vegas Makes a $200 Million Bet on Lake Tahoe,” followed by the subhed, “With Vegas stumbling, Caesars Republic brings the glamour back to Lake Tahoe.” It’s worth a look for the photos alone, two dozen in all, but if you wade through the text, you’ll have a good view of the scene at Stateline and the renovation of the venerable Harvey’s, the lake’s largest and oldest casino, into Caesars newest brand, which took two years to complete.
