The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, which oversees the Las Vegas bus system, has announced bus fare increases. Even facing a funding shortfall of more than $100 million, the RTC hasn’t raised fares since 2011. On the Strip route, a single ride will go from $4 to $5, the two-hour pass ($6) will be eliminated, the 24-hour pass will go from $8 to $10, and the three-day pass ($20) will be eliminated. A 60-day public-comment period ends June 23; the new fares are expected to take effect some time in January.
