British poker pro Benny Glaser won the prestigious $50,000-buy-in mixed-games Poker Players Championship yesterday, earning $1.34 million, his ninth WSOP bracelet in 11 years (an unprecedented run), and his name on the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy. He had to beat Phil Ivey, who bowed out in third place ($600,000), then Josh Arieh heads up ($900,000), to become this year’s Players champion. Only five poker players have more bracelets than Glaser: Phil Hellmuth (17), Phil Ivey, and Erik Seidel, Johnny Chan, and the late Doyle Brunson (10). Glaser is the youngest of the group by 12 years at 37; Ivey is 49.
