Someone in southwestern Illinois is suddenly very very rich, after hitting the Powerball jackpot for $1.04 billion in last night’s drawing. The winning ticket was sold by a Hy-Vee gas station in Quincy, Illinois, roughly 140 miles north of St. Louis. It was the eighth largest jackpot in Powerball history and the eighth for more than a bil. The cash value before taxes is an estimated $450 million. Back to $20 million goes the progressive.
