Joe DeSimone, owner of Railroad Pass on I-11 and The Pass in downtown Henderson, is making a few moves. First, he just sold The Pass to ECL Water Street, which operates the Emerald Island and Rainbow Club casinos across Water Street. That puts all three casinos under the same ownership group, which could be good news for customers, as Emerald Island and Rainbow Club promote heavily to locals and visitors in its database. (See Bobby Vegas’ blog for his frequent coverage of the two.) Meanwhile, DeSimone is taking over the Longhorn Hotel-Casino on Boulder Highway and the Bighorn Casino in North Las Vegas. Plans include an expansion of the Bighorn and a renovation of the Longhorn’s 150-room hotel. The Nevada Gaming Control Board is recommending approval, which should be seconded by the Gaming Commission in time for DeSimone to take control of the two by July 1.
