The Carolina Hurricanes soundly defeated the Montreal Canadiens last night by a score of 6-1 to take the NHL’s Eastern Conference championship in five games. So the Vegas Golden Knights, representing the Western Conference, will play the Hurricanes for the Stanley Cup; it’s the VGK’s second appearance in the Final in three years, after winning the Cup in 2023. The first game will be at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Hurricanes have home-ice advantage after finishing the regular season at 53-22-7 and 113 points, second most points in the league. The Knights were 39-25-17 and 95 points. Ironically, the Colorado Avalanche earned the most points at 121, but were swept by the VGK 4-0 in the conference championship.
