Officials from both Nevada and Arizona held a Memorial Day ceremony yesterday at Hoover Dam to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation and to help inaugurate the American250 celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary on July 4. The display at the dam was called “the most ambitious patriotic installation ever attempted at one of the nations most iconic landmarks.” It features a massive American flag, 300 feet wide by 150 feet tall, suspended across the dam, with dramatic red, white, and blue colors illuminating the rest of the face of the dam. The colored lights will be activated every night through the Fourth and you can see a 12-second video of the display here.
