Long-time LVA subscribers remember with fondness the Second Street Grill at the Fremont downtown, mainly for our 1990s 50% off coupon that was good for the total bill no matter how much it was, not to mention the excellent food. (We had a lot of big parties there at half-price.) The new Third Street Grill’s name reminds us of that restaurant, though this one is in the Food Hall and is counter service. It’s located at the southwest corner bordering the edge of the casino floor and has six old-school counter seats. It serves breakfast 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and lunch 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfasts range from pancakes and waffles ($8.99-$13.50) to country-fried steak ($19.99), with bacon and eggs and burrito bowl ($14.75). Lunch offers soup ($4.99) and salad ($10.99), five kinds of “haute” dogs ($4.90-$7.49), Chicago shaved beef roll ($14.99), crispy chicken san and BLT ($14.99), and pastrami ($16.99). No LVA-worthy bargains, though it sort of fulfills the role of a coffee shop and we can see other hotels copying this model.  K
